New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic and cultural engagement during the AI Impact Summit in the national capital, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder of Film City Noida and President of Marwah Studios, held a special meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, at the British Council.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, who serves as Ambassador of Wales in India, Chair for the Indo UK Film and Cultural Forum, and Chair for the Indo Wales Creative Forum, briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on his extensive activities strengthening creative, educational, and cultural ties between India and the United Kingdom.

During the interaction, Dr. Marwah highlighted his longstanding association with the UK across media, films, education, and cultural diplomacy. He shared that he has been honoured at the British Parliament eleven times — becoming the first Indian to receive such recognition on multiple occasions — for his outstanding contribution to promoting art, culture, and media relations between the two nations.

A key highlight of the discussion was the robust student exchange initiative led by Dr. Marwah, through which nearly 200 Indian students are taken to the United Kingdom for academic exposure, cultural exchange, and professional development, further strengthening people-to-people connections.

Dr. Marwah also emphasized that the United Kingdom remains a valued partner of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) in major international platforms, including: Global Film Festival, Global Literary Festival, Global Fashion Week, Global Festival of Journalism, and International Documentary Film Festival.

He underlined that collaboration with the UK has consistently added depth, diversity, and international participation to these global events, reinforcing the shared creative vision of both nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Marwah stated, “India and the United Kingdom share a historic and evolving partnership in the fields of education, cinema, culture, and creative industries. Through structured forums and institutional collaboration, we are building bridges that empower youth, promote innovation, and strengthen bilateral ties for generations to come.”

The meeting marked a powerful step toward deepening Indo-UK cooperation in artificial intelligence, media innovation, creative industries, and educational exchange, reaffirming a shared commitment to global cultural leadership in the digital age.

Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, University of Delhi, celebrated its 57th Annual Day in a dignified and vibrant ceremony at the College Auditorium. The occasion also marked the formal commencement of the 125th Birth Anniversary year of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, paying homage to his enduring legacy in the fields of education and nation-building.

The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Vijender Gupta, Hon’ble Speaker, Delhi Legislative Assembly. The Guests of Honour included Smt. Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri, Former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Shri Alok Dimri, Additional Secretary & National Coordinator (SCO), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The ceremony was presided over by the Principal, Prof. Neelam Goyal, in the august presence of Prof. Sudeshna Mazumdar, Chairperson, Governing Body; Prof. Pamela Singla, Treasurer; and Prof. Manjula Grover, Convenor, Annual Day.

The celebration commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Saraswati Vandana and the rendition of Vande Mataram. The logo commemorating the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji was formally unveiled. The cultural segment showcased India’s classical and folk traditions through a thematic dance presentation “Panchatatva,” a classical choral rendition based on Raag Megh, Bahar and Basant, a Sitar ensemble, and a vibrant Gidda performance.

Presenting the Annual Report, Principal Prof. Neelam Goyal highlighted the College’s academic accomplishments, research initiatives, student achievements and its sustained commitment to women’s empowerment and holistic education.

In his address, Shri Vijender Gupta underscored the transformative role of education in nurturing democratic values and responsible citizenship. A documentary commemorating 100 years of the Delhi Legislative Assembly was screened during the function, and a centenary Coffee Table Book was presented to the College. Smt. Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri spoke on women’s leadership in a global context, while Shri Alok Dimri emphasized the significance of global awareness in contemporary times.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of meritorious students and long-serving teaching and non-teaching staff, followed by the National Anthem. Prof. Manjula Grover, Convenor, Annual Day, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The celebration was widely appreciated as a grand success.

Mumbai/Chiplun: Renowned social worker, sports administrator, education supporter and business leader Dr. Santosh Raosaheb Chavan has been honored with the prestigious “Bharat Gaurav Samman” National Award for his outstanding contributions in the fields of sports, social service and youth development. The award was conferred by Namaskar Group and Namaskar Foundation, New Delhi.

Dr. Chavan is currently serving as the Managing Director of Embossed Group. He previously worked as the Head of the Talent Hunt Department of IPL team Kings XI Punjab during 2014–15 and is also a former Maharashtra-level player. At present, he holds the important responsibility of Chief Selector at Mumbai University.

His contribution to social welfare has been remarkable. So far, he has supported the education of over 400 underprivileged children, helped more than 200 youths secure employment, and guided over 200 candidates into police recruitment through his Rudra Police Career Academy, Chiplun.

Dr. Chavan is the Founder President of Ansh Charitable Trust, Ratnagiri, and also serves as the Vice President of Jago Grahak Jago – Konkan Division. Under his mentorship, many young athletes have progressed to district, state, national and even IPL levels.

In recognition of his tireless efforts, Dr. Chavan has already been honored with 12 national and one international award.
